Ordinarily, I’m a modest fan of von Daniken’s books and his research, but as he ages, fields more criticism of his conclusions, and is ignored, his writing has shown a tendency to become a bit more irascible.
That’s too bad, because it detracts from his conclusions.

Unfortunately, that’s what I encountered in The Return of the Gods. There’s more than a little of “This is the truth and those who reject it are idiots” in this book. Get past that, damiken it’s another von Daniken success. There are some new researches, new conclusions, and new things to ponder in this work, none necessarily startling and several are predictable based on von Daniken’s previous opera.
One person found this helpful. As a writer myself, I understand being frustrated with having unconventional ideas and not having everyone see from my point of view; and I understand how this can bring on verbosity.
LOL Loved the beginning and end of Arrival, but thought the regurgitation of the crackpots in the middle was extreme. Loved your additional thoughts on panspermia, which expanded my thinking.
And, I loved the first chapter of Tomy. Wasn’t going to read it, but will have to now. People need to be open minded about ancestral life. Except the reality that there are planets in our galaxy which are home worlds to civilizations millions if not billions of years ahead of Earth both evolutionary and technologically. Is it possible that visitors from such worlds have come to Earth?
In our relatively primitive state we have landed rovers on Mars.
How far out into uncharted space will our future generations explore or even visit? The Wright Brothers first flight at Kitty Hawk, Neal Armstrong walks on the moon, What a fantastic technological advancement in just 66 years.

Much of the book is rehashed material from previous books by himself and others. To much of the book is spent on religions thousands of years ago and got boring after a while. The subject matter is a lot like the TV series about ancient aliens. I used it to put me to sleep glds night mostly.
I would give anything danniken meet Van Daniken. He is the man that changed my life. I have his books in paperback as well as on kindle. Actually getting to meet him and talk to him and about the trials of what he went through during this time of ot these while this was still such a taboo topic, would be the best day of my life!
Buy this book, read it, and become enlightened! The usual Erich Von Daniken goodness! I always enjoy his lifelong passion. There is so much that “traditional Scientists” just ignore or even cover up to “protect” their own interests or theories or “work” it is nice arrical have someone not connected to mainstream puppet strings that can bring out truths that we would otherwise not ever hear about.
What are they hiding? What do they know? This book has a lot of facts provided. Erich Von Daniken has vast knowledge of history and archeology, which adds credibility to his claims.
