The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work.

In order to establish sufficient corrosion protection and ensure optimum performance of the coating, it is necessary to specify the requirements for the protection paint system s along with the relevant laboratory performance tests to assess its their likely durability.
In order to achieve the same performance as indicated by testing, proper application of the paint is essential. Close attention needs to be given to the execution of the work. In ISOrelevant requirements are given for the following: Such structures are exposed to environments of corrosivity category C5-M and immersion category Im2 as defined in ISO It can also be used for other structures, provided that the selected paints or protective paint systems comply with this International Standard.
Only new work and any repairs necessary before start-up are included. This International Standard places emphasis on high-durability paint systems, with the aim of minimizing maintenance, and hence reducing safety considerations and environmental impact.

For each paint in the paint system, the manufacturer shall provide a product data sheet, PDS see 5. Under normal circumstances, neither the chemical composition of the individual paints in the paint system see 5. If changed, the paint system is subject to re-qualification as agreed between the interested parties. At least the following information shall be shown on the label: After qualification of a paint system, this fingerprint may be used, if necessary, to ensure that the paint supplied for use matches that subjected to qualification testing.
An example of fingerprint testing is given 2040 Annex B. The paint manufacturer shall carry out routine batch testing on each batch of paint. Such tests are subject to documentation forming part of the paint manufacturer’s quality assurance system and are used to provide the certificate of conformity, if required by the purchaser.
The minimum data required for a simple identification check if relevant to the product ffee question are given in Table 1. Each of the parties involved shall be entitled to carry out additional checks on any batch to verify the fingerprint.
Such information, and the detailed results of the assessment process, shall be the property of the purchaser but shall not be disseminated by the purchaser without prior agreement from the paint manufacturer.

For twin-pack materials, the pot life shall not be exceeded. The type of test panel and their number, preparation ios conditioning shall be in accordance with ISO and with the fre material????? The test panels shall be dry and free of dust and any other foreign matter immediately prior to paint application.
Protect the backs and vree of the test panels with an appropriate means of protection agreed on between the interested parties. The maximum thickness of each coat on each panel shall be: Deviations from the over-coating time specified by the paint manufacturer shall be agreed between the interested parties and recorded in the test report. If curing and conditioning are conducted under different conditions, they shall be clearly stated in the vree report.
The coating system shall be fully cured in accordance with the manufacturer’s most recent instructions before testing starts. Unless otherwise agreed, condition the coated test panels for three weeks in accordance with ISO If any pinholes are detected, the panels shall be replaced.
Both shall cut completely through the paint coating and into the metal substrate. Both shall be 50 mm long and 20 mm from any edge.

Optional tests may also be carried out, such as impact resistance, abrasion resistance and crack resistance. The actual test or tests to be carried out shall be agreed between the interested parties.
If the alternative cycle is used, this shall be indicated in the test report see Clause 9. Methods and requirements are given in Table 5.
