In order to answer your kujii-in, maybe the words of Maha Vajra himself help: There are also many yoga masters who are not Hindu, nor speak Tamil, Telugu or Hindi, know close to nothing of the Indian culture, yet their yoga is efficient, and they are good teachers, kujji-in their students get quick positive results.
These require a Japanese culture, that I do not possess. Yet I master the art of Kuji-In, because results is the only thing that matters. These results masstery validated by thousands of students, for if only the Master experiences the supernatural, that master is useless.
When the advanced students also experience the supernatural, these are the results that hold credibility. Whether he is a reliable source probably depends on what you are looking for. As one of his students I can say that as a process for self-discovery and self-transformation the Kujiin taught by Maha Vajra is very effective for me.
However, as he said himself, he is not teaching Japanese culture or some specific Japanese tradition. So if you are looking for that you might want a different source. Feel free to pm me if 33 have more questions. I don’t consider myself as an expert in Kuji-in, because I never investigated a lot about it, so I didn’t search for other teachings. It is one of the practice I tried, among many others, from Maha Vajra’s teachings, and not the one I practiced the most, because of personal preferences.
So, apart from my lack of expertise, I highly appreciated the connection of kuki-in Kuji-In with virtues, because I enjoy it a lot, and I believe it is a way to increase integrity of ourselves, very important for our internal “warrior”, like ninjas or samurais practiced before. Also, he gives tools emotional integration to observe whatever arises from this practice, and I found it useful, because when the energy is high, emotions and situations arise.
The same way, I practice Qi Gong, I am not a Chinese teacher, yet by my occidental understanding of taoism, even if it is not complete, I can transmit it to other occidental persons, maybe in a way that they can grasp it more than if it was from a Chinese kyji-in teacher, because I know the occidental culture. For me it is more about consciousness than language or culture. I also appreciate that MahaVajra teaches different efficient techniques, so I can try different things and find what is the most efficient for me.
I have seen astonishing results from his teachings, kuji-i people, including me, reaching kuji-ni states of consciousness, liberating quicker from suffering, by following his teachings during only some years results can be observed after some months, but they increase with time.
Many teachings are freely available on his channel on youtube https: There you can receive consciousness, and if you are interested in Kuji-In you can also practice your self-initiation by your own practice and the booklets.
So it depends on what you search, if it is to learn Kuji-in, or to dive in the Japanese culture kuju-in Kuji-In, or something else. The results keep going cause I keep practising. His approach in Kujiin was great to me cause he always trusted me, he never talk about his grandiosity, he showed me how great I am through the practise, as great as him, as great as the others, as great as masterg being in this world.
I developed so many abilities practising Kuji In and spirituality with Maha Vajra. He is definitely a great Master, a Master who create more Masters in this world to help the humanity through real kujk-in and real power.
I hope my experience provides you some help. From everything I’ve heard and kuii-in what I can observe, no. For Japanese kuju-in generally there are better sources, but unfortunately for those interested in kuji-in and kuji-kiri specifically or Shugendo, there isn’t much information out there. Ultimately to get the real deal on any of this material requires initiation.
Japanese Esoteric Buddhism” and Hakeda’s “Kukai: Major Works” would masteryy a good place to start. I studied Kuji In with master Maha Vajra, and althought I did kujo-in do it as a martial arts devotee, the results where astonishing, truly extraordinary. I have been around long enough to know that what works for kujii-in may not for others, so now I experience everything for myself to reach my own answer. Only you can truly answer the question you posed.

I know of two sources for Kuji-In only: One of kuuji-in Japanese students went to study with MahaVajra afterward, and I spoke at length to this person. They said that his teaching is superb, though without a lot of the trappings of traditional mikkyo training.
He is a master of these forms that he teaches only, and not the whole of mikkyo. I will also say that there’s a bit of a difference between being considered reliable and actually being reliable. One of my teachers had documentation as a master from reputable sources, was said to have had extremely great teachers himself, and yet did not produce results because of his lack of actual matsery.
By contrast, MahaVajra’s stuff has produced positive results. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I’m in favor of results more than I am traditions and blind adherence to what everyone else has done.
And these results have had a profound impact on my life and the lives of those around me.
I’ve read hundreds of books on various subjects dealing with different spiritual beliefs and practices from around the world. I’ve even read some of the books that MahaVajra uses in his teachings. He has interpretations that produce good results that I can experience for myself. Any argumentation that I might offer is irrelevant.
